Lawrence Gordon is the Founder of Sport Mode One, a sports events group that organizes basketball events and creates basketball experiences for youth in the Charlotte area. Gordon is also a children’s book author at @booksbylg and Co-Founder of a 501c 3 www.bookswithcolor.org. Sports and Education drive Gordon’s efforts to create programming for youth in the Charlotte area. He spent over ten years working for Nike grassroots basketball, coaching and developing high school All-Americans and division one players and pros, and has self-published two children’s books. Gordon is driven to be a bridge-builder using basketball to connect communities regardless of socio-economic background to teach the next generation that we are better together. We have boys and girls from various neighborhoods in Charlotte practicing, connecting, and building with one another, sharing resources and life perspectives to help better learn more about one another. With Charlotte being last in economic mobility amongst major cities, our camps, teams, and programming aim to improve their social capital and athletic skills. Our programming is designed to help bridge the gap between communities in the Charlotte area, allowing kids to meet people they usually wouldn’t meet.
